First Brand Designer

German industrial engineer Peter Behrens taught at the Dusseldorf School of Arts & Crafts.  He is known as the first brand designer.  He worked for AEG, a manufacturer of industrial goods.   While there, he identified the need for a logo, business cards, promotional materials, brochures, packaging, encompassing a lot of what graphic designers still do today (Kaiser).
